Sicily Villa Holiday

Whether planning a family holiday or as a group, selecting a central home base is a wonderful way to experience Sicily, which has everything to offer from the beaches to the cultural sites to culinary experiences. We recommend that our clients rent a villa in Sicily if they intend to visit the island for a week or longer. In determining the best options for your villa stay, first consider your top priorities for your visit--do you want to be near the beach, close to cultural sites, or close to major cities? Identify the best location for you, and then begin your search for a Sicily holiday villa with the right amenities and room set up for your group. Below are some of our tips on how to organize location and experiences with comfort and convenience.

Villas Near the Beach in Sicily

Villa Buena Vista is a 4 bedroom 4 bathroom villa near Taormina that is central to nearby sites with the perfect amenities for groups and value in price. The beaches of Letojanni, Mazzarò and Isola Bella are within 10 minutes by car, and day trips to sites in Catania, Syracuse, and Mount Etna are easy to organize.

Cultural Activities Nearby:

Mount Etna offers many options for travelers of different interests: nature hikes, horse or donkey excursions, and culinary themed visits learning and tasting the abundance produced by the volcanic soil of the area for centuries in terms of wine, honey, and olive oil. Plan to visit some of the local producers where you will get to know some of the locals, learn about ancient traditions, and support sustainable agriculture. Consider "Adopting" your own olive tree at Pomoro agriturismo, for only $49.00/year, after visiting for a tour and tasting.

Renta a Villa in Sicily Taormina

Villa Trapani is an elegant 4 bedroom/4 bath mid-century modern villa with a pool perched amid the olive groves and palm trees above the town of Trapani, one of our favorite spots for the nearby sandy beaches in Tre Fontane, Torretta Granitola, San Vito Lo Capo, and Lido Signorino. Large sliding glass doors make for an indoor/outdoor feel to your stay, with views of both the sea and the surrounding countryside.

Cultural Activities Nearby:

Cultural daytrips are convenient to the nearby medieval fortified village of Erice, and the foodie haven of Marsala--a must visit for the food and wine! The hilltop town of Erice was founded by the Phoenicians, then conquered by the Greeks, then the Arabs in the high Middle Ages until the Norman Conquest. Visiting the ancient Phoenician walls, still extant, and tracing time through the Saracen Castle of Pepoli to the Venus Castle bulit by the Normans is an enchanting way to experience the history and architecture of Sicily. You can arrive to Erice by cable car from Trapani for incredible views!

Villa Trapani Sicily

If you are dreaming of beachfront, Villa Blumarine near Siracusa is sits directly on a tranquil rocky beach, and is just a 10-minute walk from a nearby sandy beach and the gorgeous beaches near Pozzallo (we suggest Pietre Nere). This property is perfect for a large group of friends or several families, with 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, and nice grounds and outdoor areas for relaxing together, including an outdoor kitchen. Indoors you will find a sauna and jacuzzi, easy to hop in to after the beach straight from a rinse in the outdoor shower. Modica and Ragusa are a convenient distance for day trips. We recommend exploring the beaches of Punta secca; Marina di Ragusa, and Scoglitti, Ispica.

Cultural Activities Nearby:

Modica is a delicious culinary destination where you can visit the Antica Dolceria Bonajuto, a chocolate factory dating to 1880 run by the Bonajuto family for 6 generations. Visit their website to book a tour and tasting in advance of your visit.

Sicily beach villa

We often get inquiries from clients wondering if it's possible to pop over to Sicily for a few day's visit--our advice is to stay much longer, for at least a week, so that you can explore the rich culture and heritage of this beautiful island with something to offer for centuries from the Phoenicians to the modern period.
